Music Info
Music in the 60's was influenced by drugs such as cannabis, LSD, and ''magic mushrooms.''
Artists used drugs to help them create psychedelic music, but it affected the way their music would be interpreted by most people.
Bands like the Beatles, and Pink Floyd used these drugs to make their music more contemplative.Even singer Bob Dylan used drugs to make his music mellow.
Musicians such as The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Cream and Jefferson Airplane used drugs to create a sense of freedom in their music.
Drugs gave musicians in the 60's a feeling of relief and escape which did not seem possible for society in the 1960s especially with the shame of the Vietnam war that hung over them. So they tried to make their music give a feeling of euphoria or give the feeling that ones responsibilities were no longer important and transport someone away from their problems.
